Silence, it seemed to stretch on for an uncomfortably long time, though it was probably only a couple minutes. "My name is Israfel." Israfel offered. Although no one had asked, Israfel had felt uncomfortable in the quiet, which was a stark contrast to the bustling hold, and was tired of hearing himself referred to vaguely as 'him' and 'the boy'. "Who are you people?" he asked, fingering the makeshift bandage on his hand and watching the dragonettes.

M'dran ignored the question. "Why did you try to steal a dragonet?" He glared at Israfel. "Who sent you here?"
Z'nel came up to them and regarded the man that had tried to steal a dragonet. "Is that him? Are you going to kill him? What are you going to do with him? Why did he try to steal the dragonet? Is he going to be all right?" He shot a series of questions at M'dran.
M'dran wearily closed his eyes. "Yes that is him. No we're not going to kill him. We haven't decided what to do with him. We don't know why he tried to steal the dragonet, that's what we were trying to find out. Yes he's going to be all right, any more questions Z'nel?" He asked the eagle nosed Weyrling tartly.
"Nope, I can't think of any more," he said and grinned.
((Yay! I'm back full time! So let's try to get this Weyr up and running again! P.S I found a really cool Weyr named Selenitas Weyr, you should check it out, the link is: http://omgaweyr.proboards79.com))

Israfel turned his head slightly to face M'dran, wondering briefly if he was the infamous weyrleader he had heard Covera mention, "If I didn't steal the dragonette," Israfel replied drably, "the trial wouldn't be delayed and if the trial isn't delayed, Covera will kill my father. In which case I will be framed for the murder and she will personally make sure I'm left out for the Thread." Israfel paused for a moment, watching M'dran for a response, and picked at his bandage before adding, "Any more questions?"
Emillyn stood quietly beside her queen, listening to M'dran and Israfel talk, and feeling the reassuring noise of Amithyst's voice in the back of her mind. 'This is certainly a difficult situation my weyr is in.' the golden dragon was commenting presently, tilting her shimmering gold body protectively toward her rider.

"Trial?" M'dran asked sharply. "The trial over Covera you mean?" M'dran stroked the sweat of his forehead, the sun was up and as usual, was baking him. "So Covera will kill your father if you don't create enough of a diversion to delay the trial?" M'dran thought, irritated, that his mind wasn't up to his best right now. The attempted dragon-stealing and the strange Heaven had tired him considerably. Looks like yet another crime Covera has made, doesn't it Krith? It wasn't really a question. Yes. I am glad that I did not kill him, the dragon answered, stirring from his sleep. Me too, M'dran told him and focused again on Israfel.

"Yeah, Covera's trial." Israfel confirmed in a bland tone. Tugging at the bandage on his hand, Israfel glanced around the Hatching Grounds at the the people around him. Who were these people? Giving his bandage another resolute tug, Israfel repeated his first question, "So who are you people?"
Emillyn felt Amithyst's voice in the back of her mind, 'What about the trial? Shouldn't we be going to the trial?' She asked, quietly reminding her rider what time it was. 'Right.' Emillyn agreed with her queen before turning her attention to the people around her and saying, "If we don't go to the trial then Covera's little ploy will have worked."
"If you go to that trial," Israfel interrupted sharply, "Covera will kill my father."
Emillyn's gaze drifted between M'dran, Z'nel, Heaven, and Israfel, her mouth set in a firm line, "So, what is the plan? We need to do something about this mess."

M'dran closed his eyes, trying to think of some solution. He stood motionless for a long time and you might even think that he had been asleep. Suddenly, without opening his eyes M'dran finally spoke. "One of us, Emillyn should go and find the boy's father and bring him here to safety. Meanwhile the other will go to Covera's trial, the boy's father will be safe and Covera will hopefully be convicted. That should solve our most pressing problems for now at least and who knows? Maybe we'll find some candidates too!" He said excitedly and finally opened his eyes. "Z'nel and Heaven can stay behind with the lad and watch over Daliath!" In truth that was a very simple plan but in the light of M'dran's condition, it was actually quite a feat.
---------------
"I'll be glad to stay behind!" Z'nel quipped. "Besides, it will give me a chance to get to know this girl a bit more," he said with a grin and put one arm over Heaven's shoulders.
((Arrrg, my post got deleted so I had to make a new one that's much shorter than the older one!!!))

Heaven had spaced out a bit, consumed in her own mud pit of thoughts. She had been going through all the tips and tricks her old teacher had gone over, trying to pull one back to her that would get that blue dragonette for her. But nothing came, or atleast nothing had the chance to come to her. Heaven was slightly surprised when she felt something across her shoulder, and turned to stare blankly at the guy next to her. He was youngish, and looked like the others who lived in the Weyr. Normal and boring, plus not too bright, maybe he'll be useful. "Uh, I dont know what you think you're doing. But I will agree to stay here, I have business that can wait." She kept her tone even, not angry and not annoyed. It was more monotoned, or just plain bored. Heaven didn't like to be touched, and thus softly shrugged the arm off, and crossed her own over her chest. The girl wasn't mad at Z'nel, but wasn't the type to let him act foolish around her.

Nodding, Emillyn mounted Amithyst before remarking, "Well, if that's the plan we should head out." A tired smile flashed across her face, 'Why can't Daliath be a normal weyr?' she thought, reflecting for a moment on the troubles the little weyr was dealing with. If things went well though, one of those troubles would be dealt with.
Israfel listened absently to M'dran's plan, only interested in his father's safety- the safety of his only family. "Sure." he mumbled, "Sounds like an okay idea." Glancing over at the blue dragonette, Israfel fidgeted with his bandaged hand.
'Make sure my dragonettes will be safe.' Amithyst rumbled, 'Make sure Z'nel takes good care of them.' 'Z'nel will take good care of Kinth's brothers and sisters. Don't you trust him?' Emillyn patted Amithyst, her protective gold dragon. The queen snorted in reply, 'Of course I trust Z'nel to take car of my dragonettes.' The golden dragon then turned her attention to Krith, asking him 'Are you and M'dran ready to leave? Emillyn is impatient to have the trial over with as soon as possible.'

Z'nel grinned at Heaven. "We'll have some fun together won't we?" He said and laughed, clapping Heaven on the shoulder, not realizing that Heaven didn't like to be touched.
Kinth walked to Heaven, nudgin her hand. Hello, I'm Kinth. That one is mine, Kinth told Heaven seriously, deciding that Heaven was a nice person and deserved to get to hear Kinth. Do you want to be friends? I don't have many friends, the dragon admitted ruefully, staring up at Heaven.
-----
M'dran, come on! Amethyst is impatient, Krith told M'dran urgently. M'dran climbed on Krith's back. "You'd better behave yourselves youngsters or I'll have Krith eat you," he called with a grin as Krith began to rise from the ground. "See you soon!" M'dran yelled as Krith disappeared between.

(I feel left out, I've got no good picture of Heaven to post! Oh, and people can talk back to dragons with their thoughts, right? If not, tell me and I'll fix this post.)
Heaven was starting to enjoy the fact that all the dragons could speak directly to her mind, it was kinda fun. Greetings Kinth, my name is Heaven. I would be flattered if you allow me to be your friend, kind dragon. The girl stepped forward, extending a thin hand toward the green Kinth. She wanted to test things, and touching a dragon was a big step for an outsider.

((Yes, I think they can, if the dragon feels close enough to the person.))
Kinth crooned happilly, nudging Heaven's hand playfully. Did you hear that Z'nel? She wants to be my friend! Kinth said ecstastically.
Maybe you will impress one of my clutch-mates? Kinth asked hopefully. They need someone to take care of, she said sadly.
Z'nel grinned, it was nice that Kinth and Heaven were friends, maybe that would give him more of a chance to be Heaven's friend! Besides, Kinth deserved many friends. "You're lucky that Kinth lets you speak with her, that means that she trusts you with all her heart," Z'nel remarked quietly, watching Kinth play with Heaven.

Heaven heard Z'nel, but she was more interested in speaking more to his dragon than him. Patting the beast on her smooth green snout, she smiled a little. "Yes, I'd like that blue dragonette to be mine." Having a dragon friend could come in handy at times, this was turning out better than she'd expected. "I'm sure all the young ones will find good riders, patience is hardly ever a bad thing." Heaven replaced her hands into her pockets, and cast her silver eyes up to the sky. The people of this land had been so welcoming to her, it was almost off putting. If an outsider had shown up at her doorstep, the girl would have most likely closed the door without another thought. The wind blowing up her long white hair, Heaven saw the red streak fluttering around her temple. That lock of hair was a constant reminder of her cursed birth, and of her mother. It wasn't a good memory, but Heaven tried not to think about it at the moment.

The blue one? Kinth asked and turned around to watch the blue dragonet. I don't know... He doesn't like to be touched. Kinth said puzzled, Kinth liked to be touched, she could not understand why her brother didn't like that too. Kinth nudged Heaven when she appeared to be out of focus, assuming that it was because she was sad. Why are you sad? Kinth asked and rubbed her snout in Heaven's stomach.
Z'nel was curious about Israfel so he sat down with the injured young man. "I'm Z'nel, I would ask you how you were doing, but I'm guessing that you're not doing so well, am I right?" The young man asked. "I just recently impressed my Kinth," he said conversationally, watching Kinth talk to Heaven.

Israfel looked up from his bandaged hand at Z'nel, replying, "I'm fine, I guess. A bit worried about my dad, he's not going to be happy about this." Israfel glanced nervously over at Kinth, adding, "Your dragon seems a lot nicer than the blue one."
Napping peacefully until then, the other dragonettes began to stir. Hungry, they called out in indignant, nervous voices- Amithyst didn't usually leave them so where was she? Did Kinth know? The confused, riderless dragonettes turned to their sister, 'Where is mom, Kinth?' 'Did she go to get us food?' 'Where is Emillyn to feed us?' 'Are you hungry too?'

Heaven sent a rather irritated glance at Israfel as she heard him speak about the blue dragonette. But she didn't say anything, instead just turned back to Kinth. "The past makes my heart sad, and I think your brother is just what I need." The woman patted the green female on head. The other young ones were getting fiesty, their want for food getting rather obvious. "I could help if that's alright. An extra helping hand is always useful, no?" Heaven smiled a little, her entire face lighting up a bit.

Mom just went to eat! Kinth lied frantically. She will be back any moment! Can you help Heaven? The green asked hopefully. I don't know what to do! The green's eyes had now turned to a dull yellow, the mark of slight fear. She will feed you! Kinth cried to her siblings, trying to settle them down.
Z'nel watched the dragonets crowd around Kinth. "Heaven, there are some leftovers there," he called. "But they're not going to be enough so I'm going to the kitchens to get more, okay?" Z'nel called over his shoulder as he ran towards the kitchens, leaving Heaven to deal with the dragonets alone.

The young beasts swung their necks around to grunt at Heaven, their mouths chirping for food, their tails swinging wildly. Straightening up, the woman placed her one hand on her hip and pointed the other at the dragonettes. "Sit in a circle, now." Her voice was not loud, she wasn't shouting. But the tone was very commanding, as if trying let them know that she didn't fool around. Heaven may be an outsider, and not very threatening at first glance, but this feeling around her was rather sharp. You just get this impression that she's got a cold heart under her pale skin. "If you all dont do as I say, then you dont get any food. You understand me, dont you?" Her keen sliver eyes picked around the group, making sure she didn't have to try and speak into their minds.

Three off the dragonnettes, chirping curiously, gathered around Heaven, each peering hungrily around for their food. The blue dragonette, stubborn as ever and more cautious than his brothers and sisters thanks to its recent 'popularity', stayed where it was.
Israfel, eager to stay as far away from anything with a mouth full of razor sharp teeth, hurried after Z'nel. "I'll go help with the dragonnettes' food."

Heaven counted heads, and nodded a little to herself. Only the blue dragonette had stayed behind. Gathering the small pile of scrap meat, the girl tore what she could into pieces and sat down. "One at a time, and if you fight over it then no one gets food." She said, voice harsh and rather cold. Holding out her hand to the closest beast, Heaven held the food carefully between her fingers as to lessen the chance she got bitten. Going slowly, she turned to the next dragon and offered it a section of meat. This wasn't so hard, she thought, they seem to trust me enough to eat from my hands. With a smile, she purposfully left the young blue one out, if he didnt come to her then he didn't get his dinner. Simple as that really.

"Here I come with the meat!" Z'nel yelled, holding a giant bowl, full of meat, running towards Heaven and the dragonets. "Israfel is getting more, I just thought it was safer if I didn't wait for him and brought the meat straight to you," he said panting, handing the meat to Heaven. "I'll help you but I'm not going anywhere near that blue one! I prefer to have my hands un-bitten, thank you!" He said and took some meat up and started to feed the beasts, excluding the blue one like Heaven.
