Emilllyn laughed, "I suppose if it works. . ." she began uncertainly, watching the dragonette eat with relief. 'What do you think of all this 'Thyst?' The dragon was startled by what had happened but, more than that, happy that her stubborn dragonette had started eating, 'Relieved.' she rumbled softly, 'And don't call me 'Thyst.' Turning to M'dran Emillyn chuckled, "Klah and a light meal would do us both some good, besides, I dread to know what Krith would do to us if we didn't eat!"

M'dran laughed at Emillyn's comment. I didn't mean to be so scary. Krith said, full of remorse. "Quite allright dear heart. How about you ate yourself?"M'dran said to his dragon. Yes. I am hungry a nice heard beast or two would do it. Krith waddled to the feeding ground and immeadatly snatched a fat heard beast near him. M'dran watched his dragon greedily rip a heard beast apart, "well I guess we should eat too. Ladies first," M'dran said as he gestured to the kitchens.

Israfel edged cautiously onto the burning Hatching Sands, his mind blank with terror- memories of his encounter with Daliath's Holder woman reeling through his mind. ~Flashback~ Covera had stood, face shadowed in her dark quarters, "What do I want you to do? Cause trouble, it's the only thing I've ever noticed you excel at: starting fights, shirking duties." Her haughty voice, irritating as she continued, "I have heard, through my firelizard, Tehna, and a couple political acquaintances, that those weyrleaders are calling a meeting to replace me." She eyed him speculatively before speaking again, "So you need to cause trouble, anything at all, take one of those deformed lizards- what do they call them?- dragonettes? As long as it post pones the council meeting." Israfel had shuddered, he, just as most people in Pern, had been raised in a house-hold that followed the traditions closely and what Covera asked went against all of that. ~End of Flashback~ 'It's for a good cause.' he tried to convince himself, inching toward the closest dragonette, a blue one, and shaking inwardly in terror at the sight of the sleeping queen. 'Where's the other dragon?' the question absently crossed his mind, 'Isn't there a bronze somewhere?' Still in the shadows of the Hatching Grounds, Israfel was tempted to turn and run no matter what the consequences.

Krith had trouble sleeping so he went for a quick swim in the Weyr Lake. When he was going back to Amithyst he saw somebody make his way to the dragonets. He saw him approach the blue one, Krith had to stop him, the blue one would harm him. Krith bugled loudly and tried to reach the man fast so he could stop him.

Israfel heard Krith bugle, a stopped, staring up in horror. He had never seen a live dragon before now. 'I bet it's angry.' the thought terrified Israfel even more, what if it burned him with it's fire breath? Though if he had known more about dragons than he might have known that the magnificent creature needed firestone for that.
On the opposite side of the Hatching Grounds, Amithyst was awakened by Krith's bugle, 'Emillyn?' the drowsy queen asked, coming out of sleep and then realizing that the figure was neither her rider or M'dran, 'Who is that Krith?' confusion showing in her eyes, 'What is going on?'
Hearing Amithyst's confusion and distress, Emillyn also woke up and, anxious to see what was happening out on the Hatching Grounds, she was soon running down the various corridors of Daliath Weyr. Arriving at Hatching Grounds, Emillyn stepped out onto the burning sands before remembering that she had taken of her sandals before going to bed, though she was still wearing the clothes that she had worn during the day, and had to stop. Her feet soon felt the searing heat leaking through the tough soles of her feet and, uncertain whether to go to her dragon or back to the cold stone floors, she took a sweeping scan of her surroundings.

Israfel reached the sleeping dragonette, pulling a rough cotton bag out of his pocket, and started to slip it over his head. This is the point, if the situation hadn't been bad before, that everything fell to pieces. The dragonette woke up and, its head, far from being securely tucked in the bag, clamped onto Israfel's arm which, in turn, caused him to gasp in pain. Amithyst shrieked out in anger, rising to charge, and Emillyn let out a startled shout, mind reeling in an attempt to calm her infuriated queen. In that moment, Israfel looked around, heart pounding, certain that this wouldn't end well. 'Sorry dad.' the thought erupted in the back of his mind before lapsing into a numb terror.

((I'm back:))) M'dran awakened becouse of Krith's bugle. He ran to the hatching grounds and saw Emillyn standing there. He looked down at his bare toes and cursed himself for not thinking of boots. He came beside Emillyn and could do nothing but observe.
Krith saw the foolish man that he had attempted to warn. But he approached the dragonet anyway. Then Krith saw him try to put a bag over the dragonet. At that point all rational thoughts were pushed out of Krith's mind and he roared with Amithyst and charged. Krith reached the man first becouse he had been such a short distance behind. When he reached him he stood over the man for a split second before striking. But becouse Krith had been so blind with rage he didn't quite hit him were he was supposed to strike. Krith's razor sharp teeth did however sink into Israfel's foot.
M'dran saw his dragon's actions and tried to calm him down, Krith could kill the man! Krith, don't, stop! Krith stop! STOP! But his dragon didn't listen to him and attacked the man but thankfully didn't hit in a crucial place. He only hit his foot.

Israfel shouted out in alarm and pain as Krith's teeth sank through his boot and into his foot, the dragonette's mouth still clamped solidly on his throbbing hand despite his efforts to shake the belligerent creature off. At the same time, in the not quite far enough distance, the golden dragon was charging toward him, passing the pair of people who he now noticed on the hot Hatching Sands. 'The weyrleaders?' he wondered, trembling as the thought fluttered in the back of his mind and the pain from his foot began to become more prominent- Israfel collapsed.

He must be saved! 'dran thought desperatly. We must be able to save him so we can question him! Please Krith! Please understand me! Save him before Amithyst can kill him or you, you have to!
Krith halted a little and a small part of him listened to M'dran. Slowly he started to gave in to M'dran's orders while Amithyst came nearer and nearer. He slapped the blue dragonet lightly, but hard enough so the blue retreated slightly. Then he took Israfel in his claws and started to fly upwards and disappeared between.

Amithyst rumbled angrily, lurching abruptly as if to take off. Emillyn was still rooted to where she had stopped, the heat from the sands still scorching the soles of her feet, ''Thyst!', she desperately tried to catch the queens attention, 'Amithyst, stop, please!' The immense golden dragon didn't seem to notice her, 'Amethyst, please!' Emillyn tried again. Slowly to an awkward halt, Amithyst finally took notice of her rider's pleas, 'He threatened my dragonette.' she snorted irately, temper cooling now that she perceived the dragonette was not in any danger, 'He threatened my dragonette.' Emillyn nodded her head, shifting from one foot to the other as she began to take more notice of the burning pain seeping up through her feet, 'I know 'Thyst, but everything is fine now, your dragonette is safe- as safe as it can be.'

Krith appeared again in a cove nearby and contacted M'dran. I have the man. If you do not want him to die then I suggest you come here. He will probably not survive another trip between. The dragon rumbled.
M'dran listened to his dragon. "Krith says that we'd better come becouse the man won't survive another trip between. Can we go on Amithyst? Z'nel can watch the dragonets." He said to her.

Amithyst paused for a moment, considering, 'I suppose that Z'nel may watch my dragonettes.' the dragon admitted somewhat doubtfully, 'But if some else comes?' Her eyes swirled a dark, worried shade. 'I doubt any one else will come 'Thyst.', Emillyn reassured her queen, 'And if anything goes wrong, Kinth will notify you. Now, may we go?' 'Yes.' Amithyst rumbled, lowering herself to make mounting easier. Emillyn glanced at Amithyst and then at M'dran, "We'll have to ride without our riding gear." She mentioned, already climbing nimbly up the leg Amithyst had offered her, "It will probably be best if we reach Krith as soon as possible."

"Yeah, will Amithyst speak to Kinth?" M'dran asked and also climbed up on Amithyst's back. Krith? Is the man ok? He asked his dragon. No. He's losing blood, the sands are red now. The dragon rumbled back. "Krith says he's losing blood fast!" M'dran said urgently to Emillyn.

Israfel shuddered, his leg and arm were throbbing terribly and he was exhausted, 'Where am I?' He wondered, cold and confused, 'What's happened?'
Launching herself into the air, Amithyst looped around above the Hatching Grounds before entering between. All feeling seemed to melt away and the breath caught in her throat, '1. . .2. . .' Emillyn counted, waiting to erupt from the darkness, '3. . .' Light again, feeling again, Emillyn took a deep breath of the salty southern air, 'Take us down 'Thyst.' she told her dragon, 'Tell Krith we'll be there soon.'.

Krith swung his head so his head was over Israfel. He studied him for a moment and then blew gustily at him. Amithyst told him that they were coming. That was good. He blew again at Israfel and contacted him, I see you are awake. They are coming to help you. If I got to decide your fate then you wouldn't be able to listen to me now. But they want to do something with you. You are lucky to be alive, but if you ever harm my dragonets again then you will have my and Amithyst's wrath. It was an unusually long speach for Krith and after he'd finished it he left Israfel and went to swim in the sea.

Landing carefully beside Israfel, Amithyst waited for her passengers to dismount before joining Krith in the sea. Emillyn knelt beside Israfel, checking both of his injuries before starting. Carefully, Emillyn tore off one of the sleeves of her shirt, which was made of a thin, light material to help keep cool in the blistering heat of the Hatching Grounds, and began tearing it into strips. Setting each strip in her lap, she grabbed hold of Israfel's foot and began pulling off his boot so that she could bind it. "M'dran," Emillyn asked, glancing around at M'dran, "do you know if there are any numbweed plants nearby? If there aren't he should still be fine, but having a few would certainly help."

“I’ll just go to the Weyr to get some.” M’dran said. “Common Krith!” But I’m having such a good time… Krith said and splashed the water with his tail so Amithyst was showered with water. “I don’t care! You can swim later!” M’dran snapped. The dragon grumbled and reluctantly left the ocean. M’dran climbed on Krith’s back and the dragon started to spiral up and suddenly disappeared between. A wave of cold hit M’dran and he shuddered and regretted having no flying gear. But suddenly Krith was above the Weyr Bowl and the warm Southern greeted him. Krith landed and M’dran ran inside and told Krith to wait for him. A couple of minutes later M’dran came back with numbweed and climbed on Krith’s back again. Moments later Krith appeared over the cove and flew towards Emillyn and Israfel. M’dran jumped of Krith and gave the numbweed to Emillyn. Krith wasted no time and went again in the ocean, splashing happily.

Emillyn accepted the numbweed with an appreciative smile and quickly began slathering it onto Israfel's foot. Not waiting for the numbweed to take full affect, Emillyn began winding the strips of cloth tightly around his foot. Finishing that task Emillyn paused and sighed, her hands were slightly numb from handling the numbweed and she didn't savor dealing with Israfel's hand, though it wasn't in nearly as bad a state as his foot had been. Shaking her hands in an impatient attempt to bring the feeling back into them, Emillyn snatched up Israfel's hand and began slathering it in numbweed as well.
Israfel opened his eyes slightly, so that to a passing glance his eyes still looked more or less shut. His foot had, at this point gone completely numb and his hand, it's throbbing dying down, felt like it was about to go the same direction. The broiling southern climate had warmed him from the chill of between as well.
"Shards." Emillyn swore silently, grip loosening on the strip of cloth she had been tying around Israfel's hand, several fingers on her right hand had just gone completely numb, "I should have been more careful with that numbweed."
