Amithyst slipped through between, arriving at the Hatching Grounds and landing on the hot sands among her dragonettes. Emillyn dismounted, sliding down the dragon's side and remembering, and regretting, her lack off shoes as soon as her feet hit the sand. "What should we do about him?" Emillyn asked, referring to the blue dragonettes attempted kidnapper, shifting from one foot to the other as her feet began to feel the heat of the sand beneath them.

"Well, he isn't even fully awake. But we need to watch him so that when he gets better he won't slip away from us." M'dran said and grunted a little, Israfel wasn't very light. "When do you think he'll be well enough so we can question him?" He asked.

Emillyn nodded, "Good point." she agreed, pointing to a bench set along the side of the wall of the Hatching Ground, "You can set him over there." Emillyn added. 'I think he will be awake soon.' Amithyst told her rider, peering at Israfel curiously.

Heaven lowered herself to the ground, the hot sand not bothering her at all. The conversation about the injured man was of no interest to her, so she turned her attention to the young dragons. They were all so beautiful, and elegante, she was not sure what to think of them. Each seemed to have its own little personality, and that cause a slight smile to shadow Heaven's slim features. But one dragonette caught her eye, the blue one.

Emillyn turned toward Heaven for a moment, warning her, "Be careful around the dragonettes, the blue one bites." As Emillyn said that, the blue dragonette yawned, revealing its sharp teeth, as it lay, snoozing in the warmth of the Hatching Grounds with its siblings.

Heaven ignored the warning, and knelt down beside the young dragon. It's blue hued scales sparkled in the sun, and Heaven smiled. This was the one she wanted, she was sure of it. What was it that her teacher had said about impressing a dragon? Oh yes, just get them to eat from your hand, and everything else is set...how stupid. Oh well, if that is what it took. First, Heaven wanted to see if this dragonette was really mean, or just in a bad mood. Carefully, she reached out a hand, tapped the blue dragonette's nose, and withdrew her hand quickly, waiting for a reaction.

The dragonette snorted, taken aback by Heaven's boldness, and backed away a little. Opening its mouth, showing the sharp, glistening teeth inside, the blue dragonette released a short warning growl. Emillyn, distracted momentarily from the problem of what to do with Israfel, warned Heaven again, "Be careful, the blue bites." 'I bite.' Amithyst added, uncertain what to think about Heaven's bold, incautious behavior. 'Calm down 'Thyst.' Emillyn warned her dragon, knowing the gold's mood was more uncertain than angry at the moment but wanting to comfort the protective mother none-the-less.

Heaven's attention was given fully to the young dragon. Straightening up to her full height, she stepped forward and tried locking eyes with the blue creature below her. "You dont scare me little one, so stop acting like you're bold." Her tone was harsh, yet not overly comanding. Heaven could be a whole lot more mean if she felt like. She wanted to let the dragonette know she would be the boss from now on, and felt this needed to be learned from an early age.

Emillyn watched Heaven and the blue dragonette uncertainly as the dragonette took a couple, unhurried, shuffling steps back from Heaven and closer to the other dragonettes were napping. Closer to its siblings, the blue dragonette snapped its jaws in a slightly irritated manner before closing its eyes. 'Why do I get the feeling she isn't listening?' Emillyn sighed to her dragon. 'Because she isn't.' came Amithyst's reply, the queen moving her head to get a better view of her dragonettes and the woman as her rider stood anxiously by her side.

"Oh no you don't." Heaven hissed, placing herself once more infront of the blue dragonette. She stamped her foot lightly, showing that this was not to be tolerated any more. "You're a dragon, not a weak little creature. If you're so mean, then stand up to me, show me how strong you really are." It was a challenge, one Heaven was ready for. She was not foolish, no, but keen with percepting other's and their actions. She knew how to defend herself, and was sure that the young beast would soon give in to her.

Amithyst rumbled, her emotions, visible in her quickly swirling eyes, were changing from uncertain to irritated. Who was this human to believe she could come to her weyr and ignore her rider? As she moved closer, the golden dragon saw her blue dragonette rising to its feet. 'It would serve the human right,' Amithyst thought, but remembered that her rider would not be pleased to deal with another bloody dragon-caused injury and made a sudden decision. Shifting her weight slightly, Amithyst pushed Heaven and, as she did so, moved forward so that her formidable frame rested between Heaven and the dragonette. The dragonette had followed through with its attack, ending up running his head into his mother's leg instead of biting the strange woman as he had intended. Emillyn stood, the hot sands still burning her bare feet, startled. 'Thank you 'Thyst.' she thanked the the gold dragon, grateful for what Amithyst had done. Amithyst tilted her head, acknowledging her rider's thanks, 'I did it for you.' she told Emillyn, but that was something her rider already knew.

Heaven scowled up at the golden dragon, but kept her annoyed comments to herself. That had been no way for a creature such at herself to act, she had been in control of the situation, or so she thought. Now, sitting in the warm sands, Heaven was thinking of a new approach. Breaking the young dragon of his tough exterior was proving harder said than done.

The blue dragonette went back to where the other dragonettes lay and, with some comforting from Amethyst, went back to what he had been doing earlier, napping. Emillyn sighed, arching an eyebrow as she watched Heaven, "If you want you can help with feeding the dragonettes." she offered, walking over to Amithyst and patting her queen's head to calm her.

Heaven sighed, and finally seemed to hear Emillyn. "Yes, that would be nice of you to let me help. This one is tough, but I'm sure he will come around once his belly is full." She painted a nice little smile on her pale face, as she stood back up. Perhaps, if this did not work either, she could try again tomorrow. But what ever happened, Heaven was determined to have a dragon of her very own.

Amithyst snorted softly as she watched Heaven keenly, her thoughts already moving away from the headstrong young woman and back to another question. 'What will we do with the other one?' Emillyn knew who her dragon was referring to, the young man who had tried to steal one of the dragonettes. 'Keep an eye on him, I suppose 'Thyst. And question him as soon as possible, certainly.'
Israfel lay on one of the benches set to one side of the Hatching Grounds. Having drifted off sometime before going between, he was mildly surprised to find himself in the Hatching Grounds again when he opened his eyes a crack. Surveying the situation, Israfel decided that, for the most part, the weyrleaders must be talking with the other woman, who seemed to be paying more attention to the dragonettes and her own thoughts than anything. 'Maybe,' he thought or, rather, hoped, 'if I move fast enough, I can run for it- escape.' Opening his eyes all the way, Israfel tumbled off the bench and onto his feet which, in his situation was a bad idea. Under the sudden strain of his weight, combined with the heat from the sands and a general all around ache, Israfel's injured foot brought a quick and rather painful end to his attempted flight. With a painful jolt from the sole of his foot to somewhere around his knee, Israfel let out an injured, startled, shout and collapsed onto the hot sands. 'I'll never live this one down.' the thought flashed across his mind as he looked up from his ungainly position on the ground.
((I hope no one minds that I repositioned Israfel... or how long I took replying.))

Heaven glanced over and noticed the young many laying in the hot sand. He seemed to be in pain, and in need of some help. Not sure why no one was going to help him, she took it upon herself to do just that. Striding over to Israfel, the woman grasped his shoulders and hauled him upright. "Keep that foot off the sand, and lean on me." Heaven instructed, puting an arm around him for suport. She didnt want him to just stay there, in the hot sands, that would be rude.

Israfel's face, perhaps as a result of the combination of the hot sands, pain, surprise, frustration, and general embarrassment, was turning a bright shade of red beneath his light tan. "Thanks." He mumbled, accepting Heaven's assistance. Thoughts were whirling through his mind as he said this, 'Who was this person? I thought the weyrleaders were pretty much the only residents at Daliath. What was he going to do now? They're probably going to want to interrogate him.'
Emillyn, talking with her queen, had not noticed what was going on around her until Amithyst pointed it out, 'The boy fell down,' the dragon mentioned absently, 'That young woman is helping him up. Can we question him now?' Giving Amithyst an absent pat, Emillyn walked toward Heaven and Israfel. 'The young woman's name is Heaven 'Thyst- you could try to remember it.' She teased her golden dragon. Amithyst only snorted, 'My name isn't 'Thyst.'

"Oh it was nothing." Heaven replied, ignoring the fact that his face was going a reddish color. She could really care less about his feelings, she just wanted to be doing something. This Weyr, it was a very boring place. The lack of people was a tad unnerving, and just strange to Heaven. But the one good thing, there were dragonettes here, they were what she wanted. The woman noicted that Emillyn was coming their way, finally some answers. "Why was this man just left over here. Dont you think it would be good to get him some medical assitance?" Heaven asked, her voice was calm, with a slightly accusing tone.

A nagging irritation began building in the back of Emillyn's mind as she heard her dragon's irate voice inside her head. 'What does the woman know? Why does she think she can stand there and judge you?' The gold dragon gradually left off her rant as Emillyn replied, "If you haven't noticed we're the only ones here." she gestured around the Hatching Grounds with an exasperated flick of her hands, "And I did as much as I could under the circumstances." A frown creased her brow as she continued, "We can always drop him off at Daliath Hold, if that pleases you," rolling her eyes, Emillyn absently folded her arms, " but, of course, with Covera in charge there's always the chance that he'll turn up dead." While the 'if that would please her' part was sarcasm, the rest of that statement was probably true. If that boy, and what he had done, had anything to do with Covera there was a fair chance she would rather him dead and permanently silent on the matter than risk her already shabby reputation.
Israfel slumped down into a sitting position on the bench behind him, his face returning to it's normal color as he watched what was going on around him. 'What's going on?' he thought absently shrugged off the thought, it probably had little to do with him, and went back to wondering what to do next. He obviously couldn't simply jump up and run away.
