The Kitchens consist of one long room lined with stone counters and cabinets. There are several stoves that, back when Daliath Weyr had more people, were always running. In the middle of the room there are a couple of round hard-wood tables.

Emillyn lead the way into the kitchens, looking around at the cabinets. On the stove was a half-full (or half-empty) pot of klah that she had made that morning. 'What would go well with klah?' Emillyn thought absently, 'I'm pretty sure there's some fresh bread in one of the cabinets.' She glanced from one cabinet to another, while M'dran was gone she hadn't put much effort into keeping the kitchens organized.

M'dran nodded and helped himself to the bread. "How many exactly are left?" He sighed with pleasure as he finally got something to eat. Krith sighed with pleasure too. He had eaten 4 herd beasts.
((Sorry, short but I gotta go so...))

Emillyn poured herself a cup of klah and cut a couple slices of bread. "How many dragonettes? Four." Emillyn answered, then, realizing that probably wasn't what M'dran had been asking about, "I'm not sure how many people stayed, I remember there were a few who stayed behind but they might have left, either on business or to the Hold." 'May I go hunt?' Amithyst asked Emillyn patiently, bringing to Emillyn's mind the whirling, luminescent eyes of the gold dragon. 'Of, course you can!' Emillyn replied to her dragon, trying not to laugh, 'Why would you not be able to eat?' 'Will you look after my dragonettes?' The queen seemed reluctant to leave them. 'Zunel and Kinth are still out there, aren't they?' Emillyn asked, receiving a bored 'yes', 'Then I'm sure they wouldn't mind looking after them. Kinth would tell you if anything happened to his siblings. Besides, I need to eat just as much as you do, my dear 'Thyst!'

M'dran sighed, "we'll have to visit allholds to search for people who want to come to the Weyr. There must be some people who would want to change homes." Yes, Yes! Come eat Amethyst! I saved a particulary big one for you! See? He's right there! Krith said to Amethyst. M'dran laughed at his dragon's amusement. "How many dragons hatched originally?" He asked Emillyn curiously.

"Hmm." Emillyn thought back to the Hatching, remembering how frantic she had been, her panic distressing her dragon. ~Flashback~ 'I don't understand it 'Thyst!' Emillyn had fumed after a trip to Daliath Hold, 'Daliath Weyr has protected them for generations and the Hold has always allowed us to Search there- so why not now, when we need candidates the most!' Amithyst snorted, watching her rider pace anxiously between and around her precious eggs. It had been a small clutch, seven eggs lay glowing in the sun, but, with the Hatching drawing closer everyday, Emillyn was having trouble finding even that many candidates. Only a couple days later, the eggs that had hatched. Two greens, two blues, two bronzes, and a brown dragonette. Even though there were no candidates available when they hatched, the dragonettes formed a close-knit group and, under their mother's constant care, Emillyn began to hope that they would make it. But two of the dragonettes fell ill and, eventually, died. The sound of Amithyst's high pitched keening was something that Emillyn would never forget and she could never forget the sound of the dragonettes cries, that made a spine-tingling melody of utter grief. ~End of Flashback~ Emillyn shuddered, "There were seven." she admitted sadly, "There were seven."

M’dran felt a pang of grief, “I am so sorry that I wasn’t there.” He said full of regret. Tell Emillyn that I am sorry too. Krith said and swung his big bronze head and put it on top of Amithyst’s head in sympathy. M’dran, Amethyst says that Daliath Hold didn’t allow them to search! The bronze said angrily. “What?” M’dran said startled and then said angrily to Emillyn, “why, by the Egg, did they not allow you to search? We’ve protected for ages and what do we get in return when help is needed the most? Nothing!
((I hope you will forgive me for letting Krith say that Amithyst said something. You may do this too concerning my characters, you know something minor that is essential for your dialouge to work.))

Emillyn glanced around the room an then up at M'dran, "I don't know why the Hold wouldn't allow me to Search there but things will improve, once Covera is replaced things are bound to improve." ' Yes.' Amithyst agreed, the statement's tone sending shivers up her spine. Dragons were creatures the lived in the present, neither dwelling in the past or worrying about the future, but if something should anger a dragon whoever had done so was in for a great deal of trouble. This is what had sent that shiver up Emillyn's spine. She knew that, besides her rider, there were few things that Amithyst truly cared about- Krith (and M'dran too, of course) and her dragonettes and Covera was, at present, not in the best standings with any of those. ((I don't mind. ))

Don't worry Amethyst, we'll get the holder woman together and then everyone will be happy. Krith said to his weyrmate. "Yes, yes we will." M'dran said quietly in response to what Krith said. At that point Z'nel ((I decided to shorten it that way)) came in with an empty bowl. "I've finished feeding them Weyrwoman, what do you want me to do next?" He said enthusiastically. "Ah, young Z'nel, how is Kinth fairing?" M'dran greeted him. "Very well sir, she is sleeping at the moment." M'dran nodded appreciately.

Emillyn smiled, memories of Amithyst as a dragonette cheering her, "That's good. How are the other dragonettes? Are Kinth's siblings behaving themselves?" 'For the most part.' Amithyst rumbled sedately, having settled on the Hatching Grounds with her dragonettes. 'Do you remember being their age 'Thyst- a little dragonette?' Emillyn asked her queen absently. 'Yes,' the dragon replied sleepily, 'You didn't feed me enough.'

M'dran gulped down the rest of his klah and stuffed the remains of his bread in his mouth. "You want to eat something?" He asked Z'nel. The boy shook is head, "no thanks, I just ate before I got here." M'dran nodded, "so Emillyn, are you done yet?" Gesturing towards her food. "The sooner we get this over with the sooner we'll be done!" Amazing philosophy there M'dran. Even I can understand how silly that sounded. Krith rumbled and settled himself beside Amithyst and fell asleep. M'dran smiled to himself, "I guess it was a bit silly." He admitted, "and I take that back that we should do this soon, i'm sleepy." He muttered and found it harder and harder to keep his eyes open. "I suggest we do as our dragons and get a little bit of rest, I'm sure you deserve that."

Emillyn nodded, clearing away the bread and klah, "A rest would be nice." she agreed. 'You need rest.' Amithyst commented absently, 'It is bad not to sleep enough.' 'Yes.' Emillyn reassured her queen, 'I know, you don't need to worry.' 'I know.' Amithyst replied, 'I worry anyway.' And with that the gold dragon went back to sleep, her hide glistening in the hot sun of the Southern Continent.

"Come on." M'dran muttered to Emillyn. "Z'nel will get this cleaned up for us. You deserve long awaited rest." He yawned hugely and took Emillyn's hand and pulled her away from the kitchen. Krith? Wake us up if we sleep to long. M'dran said silently to Krith. Yes. The dragon replied and went back to sleep. "Z'nel please clean this up and then you can do what ever you want." M'dran commanded. Z'nel immeadatly started washing the cups.

Emillyn nodded, tired, and followed M'dran. In the Hatching Grounds, contently surrounded by her dragonettes, Amithyst was sounding sleeping. Emillyn smiled, there were few things that could wake her gold dragon once her mind was set on sleeping.
